Isobel Chaytor (nee Scott) waqs born in 1890 and started life as a baker's daughter in a shop in Darlington. She then met and married one of the Chaytor family from Croft and moved into Croft Hall and Witton Castle. She was a daring and some would say fearless woman, who at the age of 42 flew an open topped Gypsy Moth to Australia and survived!
She ended her life on the island of Madeira, unloved. No one went to her funeral. Along the way she lived the ‘high life', had many adventures, and got into many scrapes. A life if not well lived, was lived to the full.
