First formed in 1989 and resurrected in 2019 after a gap of several years, Gaelforce play Celtic Folk Rock music, a mixture of up tempo traditional folk songs plus their own songs and tunes written in traditional style as well as plenty of jigs for an audience in the mood for dancing.
The current line up is Chris Dyson on fiddle and vocals, Geoff Taylor on electric guitars, Sammy Dowgill on bass and vocals, and Jim Brierley on drums and vocals.
While unable to tour due to Covid restrictions, the quartet recorded and released their latest album, Equinox, and in January 2023 were delighted to win by public vote the competition on the Introducing Stage at the Great British Folk Festival.
